Etymology
    
Inherited from Early Assamese ইন্দুৰ (induro), from Sanskrit উন্দুৰ (undura) from a lost Vedic substrate language.[1] Cognate with Sylheti ꠃꠘ꠆ꠖꠥꠞ (undur), Bengali ইঁদুর (ĩdur), Hindi इंदुर (indur), Gujarati ઉંદર (undar), Marathi उंदीर (undīr), Konkani उंदिर (undir).
