Etymology
From Proto-Finno-Permic *jane (“path”) (whence also Proto-Samic *juonë and Erzya ян (jan, “path”)), probably borrowed from Proto-Indo-Iranian *yáHnam (whence Sanskrit यान (yāna), यामन् (yāman)).
