Etymology
According to Akhvlediani, borrowed from Ossetian уырытӕ (wyrytæ), the plural of уыры (wyry, “rat”), and reshaped by folk etymology as ვირი (viri, “donkey”) + თხა (txa, “goat”). Compare ვირთაგვა (virtagva).
