From Angkorian Old Khmer °hṛdaya (“heart; breast; chest; emotion; wish”); ultimately from Sanskrit हृदय (hṛdaya, “heart; soul”). Compare Old Khmer hradaiya; Modern Khmer ហឫទ័យ (haʼrɨtɨy).
