Etymology
From Old Khmer dūrayasa (“disgrace; disgraced”); ultimately from Sanskrit दुर्यशस् (duryaśas, “disgrace”). Same as ทร (tɔɔn) + ยศ (yót). Doublet of ทุรยศ (tú-rá-yót). Compare Modern Khmer ទុយ៌ស (turəyŭəh).
