Borrowed from Sanskrit কপিত্থ (kapittha). Doublet of কয়েথ (koẏeth) and কয়থ (koẏoth). Compare Assamese কপিত্থ (kopittho), Odia କପିତ (kôpitô), Hindustani کپتهہ / कपित्थ (kapitth), as well as Thai มะขวิด (má-kwìt), Khmer ខ្វិត (khvət), Mon ကွိတ်, Indonesian kawista, Javanese kawis.
