Borrowed from Ottoman Turkish یاسمین (yasemin), from Classical Persian یاسمین (yâsmin) or یاسمن (yâsaman). Compare Albanian jasemin, Greek γιασεμί (giasemí) and Serbo-Croatian ја̀смӣн. Doublet of жасми́н (žasmín).
