τένθης
Ancient Greek

    Etymology

According to Bechtel, τόνθων (tónthōn, “spinal meat”) belongs here as well. Instead, Beekes envisages a connection with τένδω (téndō, “to gnaw”), in which case the variation θ/δ points to Pre-Greek origin.
