Reborrowing from Ottoman Turkish لیمان (liman),[1] (the Medieval Byzantine form λιμεώνας (limeṓnas) or λιμνιώνας (limniṓnas),[2] diminutive λιμενάρι (limenári)[3]) from Hellenistic Koine Greek λῐμένιον (liménion), diminutive of the ancient λῐμήν (limḗn). Also see λειμών (leimṓn).[4]
